‘This Way North’ EP by This Way North

Reviewed by Rob Stewart

This Way North are Melbourne’s latest dynamic duo and are an insanely engaging gift to ya listening gears!

Featuring on guitars and vocals Leisha Jungalwalla (Also plays with Jungal) and on drums Cat Leahy (Also plays with Sal Kimber & The Rolling Wheels, Miss Quincy, and Lisa Miller)

Their debut self-titled EP which was recently launched at the amazing Gasometer Hotel in Melbourne is a testament to the good things come in small packages ethos. These two talented ladies make making brilliant songs seem like such an effortless pursuit.

The first single ‘Don’t You Fly’ is packed with a fearsome Fuzz drenched punch not seen since the likes of L7 dominated the alternative 90’s world. ‘Beats Den’ sees Cat deliver the most Bonham-esque beat than any he may have delivered to Led Zep and Leisha’s slide guitar and spitting vocals make this track a favourite of mine. ‘I Hold’ is gloriously indie pop perfection, Foreign Bombs with its haunting slide guitar and Cats drumming rim shot extravaganza makes for a brilliant sound and ‘Lie To Me’ is just the tonic for your Sunday Chill whilst you recover from the preceding nights activities.

If you don’t jump online and buy this EP for yourself, you’re doing a disservice to your life.
